Home lift quotes
A home lift can suit a new build, a renovation or a house you want to stay in for good. Tell us about the house and we will look for an independent lift company that installs them in your area.
How much does a home lift cost in Australia?
Figures published by Australian suppliers mostly put an installed two-stop home lift at around $45,000 to $90,000, with some compact models advertised from about $25,000 and KONE advertising its MonoSpace Home from $70,000. These are indicative, not quotes. Shaft and building work in an existing house can add substantially, so ask whether a quote includes it.
What changes the price
The main factors are the drive type, the number of floors, the size of the car, the finishes, and whether a shaft already exists or has to be built. Fitting a lift into an existing home usually costs more than planning one into a new build, because structure, power and sometimes approvals have to be dealt with.
New build or existing house
For a new build, involve a lift company while the plans can still change, so the shaft, pit and power are designed in. For an existing house, photos of the likely location and the floors it needs to connect help a company say early whether a lift is practical.
What to compare between quotes
Ask what is included in the installed price, who handles building work and approvals, what the warranty covers, what servicing will cost afterwards, and whether parts and service are available from more than one company. The cheapest lift to buy is not always the cheapest to own.
What to include in your enquiry
- Suburb and whether the house is new or existing
- Floors the lift needs to connect
- Likely location, with photos or plans
- Who will use it, and any wheelchair access needed
Common questions
Can a lift be added to an existing house?
Often, but it depends on the structure and the space available. Some lift types need less building work than others. A lift company needs to assess the house before confirming it.
What does a home lift cost to run and service?
Ask for the servicing cost when you compare installation quotes. The home lift maintenance cost guide on this site explains what affects it.
