Describe what the lift is doing

Explain what happened, when it started and whether it keeps happening. A lift that will not move, doors that will not close, unusual noises or a lift that stops between floors are all useful details. Symptoms help describe the job; the cause needs assessment of the actual equipment.

Do not reset or open the equipment

Avoid removing covers, forcing doors or repeatedly switching the lift off and on to clear a fault. If anyone is inside a stopped lift, use the lift phone or alarm. If there is immediate danger or a medical emergency, call 000 first.

When the original installer is not available

Many homeowners look for a repairer after buying a home with a lift or losing contact with the installer. Share the make, model and any service records you have. Support for a particular model and access to parts should be confirmed with the lift company.
